Samsung trade-ins soared 210% during new iPhone launch
It appears the huge number of smartphone owners with Samsung branded devices chose to trade those devices in during the iPhone 5s launch. Apple had a huge sales weekend for its iPhone 5S and 5C smartphones, with over 9 million sold. According to electronics recycling company Gazelle, trade-ins of Samsung devices also soared during Apple’s iPhone launch weekend.
iPhone 5S
Gazelle says that during the launch weekend for the new iPhone models trade-ins of Samsung smartphones increased 210 percent. Gazelle says that on September 20, the day the iPhone 5s and 5c launched, it made five offers per second between 10 AM and 11 AM for Samsung branded smartphones.
Samsung Galaxy S4
Gazelle also notes that the average value per trade was $50 higher this year than it was last year.
